Audien Atom Pro rechargeable CIC hearing aids

Video Review

Overview

Today, I want to talk about the Audien Atom Pro hearing aid, which is currently the smallest hearing aid offered by Audien.

In terms of design, the Audien Atom Pro is a CIC style hearing aid that is small and unnoticeable when worn. Additionally, it is rechargeable and I have personally tested the battery life, which lasts for at least 24 hours.

In terms of charging and battery, the Atom Pro comes with a charging case that has a built-in battery for four full charges.

When it comes to what’s included in the box, you’ll find a quick start guide, a manual, two hearing aids, wax filters, a brush with magnet and screwdriver, a charging cable, and some extra ear domes.

When setting up the hearing aids, I recommend charging them for at least four hours before the first use. Cleaning the ears from wax is important but it’s a tricky part, it’s hard to really get rid of the earwax in your ears. The best thing you can do is go to an audiologist or ENT to get your ears cleaned. You should try out all earbud sizes which is a way to do it. In fact, if you know you have small ears you probably will not need to try the biggest earbud first but it’s a way to get the hearing aids to a good fit into your ear canal. Number four: turn on the hearing aids. You turn them on by simply taking them out of the charger and then you should start with the lowest volume and go louder louder and louder until you have the volume that fits your needs. And then you’re ready to go. So that’s Audien’s quick start guide. It’s very basic honestly because yeah you will have to charge the hearing aids because they’re rechargeable; you will have to find uh eardrum that fits you and I would be very cautious with the sentence uh clean out your ux from the ears because that’s not as easy as it sounds well now let’s have a closer look at the hearing aids

When it comes to what’s included in the box, you’ll find a quick start guide, a manual, two hearing aids, wax filters, a brush with magnet and screwdriver, a charging cable, and some extra ear domes.

Cleaning the ears from wax before using the hearing aids is recommended by Audien but it’s a tricky part, it’s hard to really get rid of the earwax in your ears. The best thing you can do is go to an audiologist or ENT to get your ears cleaned.
You should also try out all earbud sizes. In fact, if you know you have small ears you probably will not need to try the biggest earbud first but it’s a way to get the hearing aids to a good fit into your ear canal.
Then turn on the hearing aids. You turn them on by simply taking them out of the charger and then you should start with the lowest volume and go louder louder and louder until you have the volume that fits your needs. And then you’re ready to go.

Now let’s have a closer look at the hearing aids

The Hearing Aids

When you open the box with the charging context, you’ll see LED lights that are green when the hearing aids are fully charged. The hearing aids come with a charging box that has a built-in battery that can give four full charges. When you take out the hearing aids you can see the charging contacts, the microphone and the volume control. The silicon wire is to pull the hearing aids out of the ear and there’s a serial number, a wax filter and a silicon eardome.

The hearing aid turns on automatically when you take it out of the charger and it turns off automatically when you put it back into the charger. The only thing to adjust here is the overall volume, and you do it with the screwdriver that comes with the hearing aids. Changing the eardome is easy, just pull it off and put on a new eardome. The only thing to adjust here is the volume and you can also adjust the hearing a little bit with using a different eardrum.

Audien states on its home page that these hearing aids have zero feedback and that’s something I found quite interesting because when wearing you can hear feedback and it doesn’t matter which eardome I’m using. I get feedback because those hearing aids don’t have a proper feedback management and you get the feedback when you’re on the phone or when you turn up the volume.

So how about the sound quality of those hearing aids? When you put them in your ear everything is louder. Voices are louder which is good, cars are louder which is not that good, footsteps are louder which is not that good. Everything is louder and the only option to adjust the volume is by adjusting the overall volume with the tool on the hearing aid, so this is nothing you can do during wearing the hearing aid. You have to take them out of your ear adjust the volume and put them in again.

The Audien Atom Pro hearing aids come with a 45-day money-back guarantee so you can can try those hearing aids risk free, and they also have a one year warranty. Audien also tries to sell you their protection plan which is basically for people who fear that they might lose the hearing aids or fear that they stop working. So you can get the protection plan but it’s definitely not necessary.

Conclusion

My conclusion of the Audien Atom Pro hearing aids is that they are very small hearing aids, they’re hardly noticeable when wearing, they’re rechargeable, and the battery lasts one full day which is fine.
The charger also has four extra charges with the built-in battery so this is fine, but the sound quality is not that good. You will get more loudness and won’t be able to understand better because not only voices will get louder, you will also hear all the different noises that will get louder and you can’t adjust that because there is only one button to adjust the overall volume.

So there’s only one hearing program, you can only adjust the overall volume, and the sound quality is not that good. So thiese hearing aids are not really OTC hearing aids, they are more PSAPs (Personal Sound Amplification Products) than hearing aids.

So if you’re looking for a cheap hearing solution, when you’re on a tight budget, this hearing aids sell for 249 dollars and it might be worth looking for devices that may be a little more expensive but have at least more hearing programs and better sound quality.
